The Evidence

WHY 3D PRINTING
IN SCHOOLS
MATTERS.

The research is clear. Students who engage regularly with 3D printing and maker education develop stronger spatial reasoning, design thinking, and creative confidence — and are significantly more likely to pursue STEM careers.

The global 3D printing in education market is growing at 13% per year. The schools that adopt it now are the ones that prepare their students for the world they'll actually work in.

Fastest-growing adoption segment — primary and secondary schools worldwide
"3D printing functions as a cognitive mediator — enabling students to embody abstract concepts through physical making."
American Journal of STEM Education, 2025

Expanding to 10 schools in 2026–2027.

BLANK Canvas is opening a limited number of after-school programme spaces for the 2026–2027 academic year across primary and secondary schools in Dublin. Our Garda vetted instructors combine 3D printing, character design, and hands-on making to give pupils a creative experience they genuinely enjoy. School places are limited and expected to fill quickly.

AFTER-SCHOOL
3D PRINTING
PROGRAMME.

This is not kids downloading marketplace files and pressing print. Pupils use design thinking, STEM, and their own imagination to create custom work from the ground up. They sketch, model, test, refine, and revise — learning that great ideas get stronger through the making process. The result is more than a 3D print: it is creative confidence, problem-solving skill, and the self-belief to bring original ideas into the world.

PROGRAMME
LEVELS

Three after-school programme levels for primary and secondary pupils. All sessions are delivered in-school by Garda vetted instructors. Pupils progress from first print to advanced studio work at their own pace.

Level 1 — Foundation
PRINT STARTERS
An introduction to 3D printing and character design. Students don't just learn to print — they learn to create original characters from scratch, combining basic art instruction with 3D printing skills to bring their imagination to life.
4th–6th Class (10–12 year olds)
10-Week Programme
After-School · Garda Vetted Instructors
Character Design + 3D Printing
Level 2 — Intermediate
DESIGN & BUILD
Students move from characters to purpose-built objects — prototyping, iteration, and real-world design challenges. Requires Print Starters Level 1 completion.

What Schools Say

HEARD FROM
THE CLASSROOM.

"The students were completely engaged from the first session. They couldn't stop talking about what they'd made. Unlike anything we'd seen in a standard STEM class."
Ms. Sarah O'Brien
STEM Coordinator · St. Anne's Primary
"BLANK Canvas brought real energy to our school. The kids who normally disengage were suddenly the most motivated in the room."
Mr. David Keane
Principal · Malahide Community School
"What I love most is that students take something home — not just a lesson, but an actual object they designed. That sense of ownership is incredibly powerful."
Ms. Fiona Murphy
Art & Design Teacher · Clongriffin ETB
