BLANK Canvas Facilitator Code of Conduct
Purpose
BLANK Canvas is committed to providing a safe, positive and inclusive environment for all children participating in our programmes.
All facilitators, assistants, volunteers and contractors working with BLANK Canvas are expected to follow this Code of Conduct at all times.
Professional Conduct
Facilitators must:
- Treat all children with dignity, respect and fairness.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Act as positive role models.
- Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times.
- Respect children's privacy and personal boundaries.
- Follow all BLANK Canvas safeguarding procedures and guidance.
Working with Children
Facilitators must:
- Deliver activities in group settings.
- Ensure children remain appropriately supervised throughout programme activities.
- Maintain professional boundaries with children at all times.
- Challenge inappropriate behaviour in a calm, respectful and constructive manner.
- Report safeguarding concerns promptly to the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) or Deputy DLP.
Facilitators must not:
- Arrange private meetings with children.
- Provide one-to-one tuition or mentoring outside approved programme activities.
- Invite children to private residences.
- Communicate with children through personal social media accounts, messaging apps or personal email addresses.
- Exchange personal contact details with children.
- Engage in behaviour that could reasonably be perceived as intimidating, inappropriate or unprofessional.
Physical Contact
Physical contact with children should be avoided unless necessary for safety, wellbeing or the proper delivery of an activity.
Any physical contact should be appropriate, proportionate and respectful.
Facilitators must never engage in physical behaviour that could be interpreted as aggressive, inappropriate or unnecessary.
Photography and Media
Facilitators must:
- Follow BLANK Canvas photography and consent procedures.
- Use only approved devices and platforms for programme-related photography where applicable.
- Respect parental consent preferences.
Facilitators must not:
- Use personal photographs of children for private purposes.
- Share images of children on personal social media accounts.
- Publish identifiable images of children without appropriate consent.
Transport and Collection
Facilitators must not:
- Transport children in personal vehicles.
- Take responsibility for collecting children from, or returning children to, their homes.
- Release children to unauthorised individuals.
Any concerns relating to collection arrangements should be referred to the school or parent/guardian as appropriate.
Online Safety
Where digital tools are used as part of programme delivery, facilitators must:
- Use approved platforms and accounts.
- Protect children's personal information.
- Report any online safety concerns immediately.
Reporting Concerns
Any concern relating to the welfare, safety or protection of a child must be reported without delay to:

Declaration
All facilitators, assistants, volunteers and contractors working with BLANK Canvas are expected to read, understand and comply with this Code of Conduct.
Failure to comply with this Code may result in removal from BLANK Canvas activities and, where appropriate, referral to relevant authorities.
